Just read that Atlassian’s CEO said they’ll have MORE engineers in 5 years despite AI/vibe coding tools. His logic: demand for tech keeps growing, so we’ll need more people to build it all.
They’re even hiring more new grads this year (108 vs 95 last year). He thinks vibe coding doesn’t replace “core technologists” - just because marketing folks can build simple apps doesn’t mean less work for real engineers. Technology creation isn’t “output-bound” apparently.
Thoughts? Are we actually safe or is this just CEO speak to avoid panic?
Finally someone gets it. AI makes us MORE productive, not obsolete. More tech = more complexity. Good luck having ChatGPT debug distributed systems at 3am.
